to reduce emissions that come from buildings, transportation, waste, and production activities and to adapt neighborhoods and territory to a scenario that, if not addressed, risks producing significant consequences particularly towards the most fragile segments of the population.<\/p><p>There are <strong>two<\/strong> priorities of Rome&#8217;s climate action: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st4g3.romaperilclima.it\/en\/the-mitigation-of-co%c2%b2-emissions\/\"><strong>the mitigation of CO2 emissions<\/strong> <\/a> emissions of the city, to reduce emissions and pollution produced by fossil fuels, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st4g3.romaperilclima.it\/en\/the-climate-adaptation-strategy\/\"><strong>adaptation to the impacts<\/strong><\/a> already underway and foreseeable related to rising global temperatures.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5ca89c96 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5ca89c96\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Mitigating impacts<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-49e001ce elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"49e001ce\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The mitigation pathway is built as part of the European Union&#8217;s climate commitment. In fact, Rome has been selected by the EU Commission in 2022 among the <strong>Mission <a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe\/eu-missions-horizon-europe\/climate-neutral-and-smart-cities_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201c100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030\u201d<\/a><\/strong> cities that aim to advance the achievement of European carbon-neutrality goals. <\/p><p>The <strong>Mission<\/strong> requires each city to approve a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st4g3.romaperilclima.it\/en\/the-climate-city-contract\/\"><strong>Climate City Contract<\/strong><\/a> <strong>consisting<\/strong> of a <strong>Plan of Actions<\/strong>, with estimated emissions that contribute to achieving the expected CO2 reduction; a <strong>Plan of Investments<\/strong>, which elaborates on the economic and financial commitment put in place and to be planned; and a <strong>Plan of Commitments <\/strong>of the administration and the actors involved in the Climate Plan pathway.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2373dde8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"2373dde8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" heat waves, periods of drought, and more intense and frequent flooding.  <\/p><p>In response to these challenges, Roma Capitale has approved the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.st4g3.romaperilclima.it\/en\/the-climate-adaptation-strategy\/\"><strong>Climate Adaptation Strategy<\/strong><\/a> which identifies <strong>priorities, goals and measures to prepare the city<\/strong> for the increasingly frequent and intense impacts due to climate change that are already occurring <strong>and to adapt the territory to foreseeable impacts<\/strong> as a
